The Health Innovation Alliance joined more than 160 organizations in calling on the U.S. Senate to support the passage of the Telehealth Expansion Act of 2023 (S. 1001/H.R. 1843).
The bill would permanently ensure that the millions of Americans with employer-sponsored health coverage can continue to access vital telehealth services – including virtual primary care and behavioral health services – before meeting their deductible.
In December 2022, lawmakers included a two-year extension of the CARES Act authority that allowed employers and health plans to provide coverage for telehealth services on a pre-deductible basis for those with a high-deductible health plan coupled with a Health Savings Account (HDHP-HSA) through December 31, 2024.
Acting now and passing the Telehealth Expansion Act of 2023 would ensure patient access does not lapse.
