Washington, D.C. – The following statement is in support of artificial intelligence (AI) opportunities in healthcare being considered at today’s House Committee on Energy and Commerce’s Subcommittee on Health hearing, Examining Opportunities to Advance American Health Care through the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies. The statement should be attributed to Joel White, President of the Health Innovation Alliance (HIA).
“The Health Innovation appreciates lawmakers for making AI in healthcare a top priority as they return to Washington.
Artificial intelligence will revolutionize the healthcare industry. To determine where and how AI can be used in the future, we must first examine where it is currently excelling – like rooting out fraud, waste, and abuse – and how providers are leveraging it to deliver care and communicate with patients. The best thing the government can do is to encourage AI use, pay for the care it helps provide, and use it to reduce administrative burdens.
Today’s hearing is an important step in mapping out the future of AI in healthcare. Technology, like AI, is evolving at warp speed. Patients, providers, lawmakers, and regulators must clear a path to ensure seamless integration and continued advancement.”
