HIA’s Brett Meeks spoke with Inside Telehealth about the recent two-year telehealth extension for standalone plans.
But Brett Meeks, vice president at Horizon Government Affairs, said for now lobbyists can celebrate knowing they succeeded on their first step — a two-year telehealth extension.
“Everyone just got just about everything they wanted, including leaving out some of the bad stuff,” Meeks said. “People want access to care through remote means to continue.”
Meeks said that the temporary ability for employers to offer standalone telehealth plans has increased access to care.
“That’s something that we want to work on through the Health Innovation Alliance next year to reach beyond the traditional Medicare school of thought,” Meeks said. “Think about where most people get their insurance in the country and it’s normally through their job.”
