HIA’s Brett Meeks was interviewed by Inside Health Policy about efforts to get lawmakers to cut a virtual platform modifier requirement from House legislation that would extend Medicare telehealth flexibilities for two years.
The Health Innovation Alliance is also lobbying to have the modifier stripped from the Telehealth Modernization Act. Brett Meeks, executive director of Health Innovation Alliance, said E&C should remove what the group views as a burdensome, ill-conceived virtual platform modifier in the bill.
“Including a permanent change in a temporary extender is the wrong approach. There is little benefit this modifier offers, would be costly to smaller health care practices, and take longer to implement than the actual telehealth extension runs,” Meeks wrote in a release.
