Washington, D.C. – The Health Innovation Alliance (HIA) applauds President Trump’s announcement that his administration will work with the private sector to identify policies that hinder the innovation and adoption of artificial intelligence (AI).
HIA believes that a true public-private partnership with federal agencies is the most effective way to share AI best practices that improve the healthcare system and save money. We are encouraged by President Trump’s support for AI, and we urge him to ensure that AI funding is a clear priority for federal healthcare programs. One area in need of a strong partnership is building data assets to accelerate life science research and development. The NIH and FDA should lead the way today to secure data that can be used to develop the cures of tomorrow. This will help U.S. manufacturers maintain their competitive edge globally and with China, specifically.
Taking a pro-innovation, risk-based approach and cutting regulatory burdens and barriers to AI adoption will help to streamline administrative tasks, identify waste, fraud, and abuse earlier, and address provider burnout.
HIA looks forward to working with President Trump and his administration to ensure that the healthcare industry can adapt and improve using data and technology.
