Washington, D.C. – The new Executive Order promoting artificial intelligence (AI) to help find cures and prevention strategies for pediatric cancer is an ambitious undertaking with the potential to save millions of children’s lives.
The Health Innovation Alliance (HIA) has long promoted AI as a critical new weapon in the arsenal to fight cancer and accelerate clinical research. The Trump administration’s commitment to improving the lives of children and families affected by cancer signals a new era of innovation in health care that holds great promise.
Done well and by building off advances in AI-enabled pathology tools, prognostic models, protein structure prediction, and immunotherapy response – with new data assets at NIH, accelerated FDA review and approval, and quick coverage by Medicare – the Trump administration can transform cancer care. This effort will benefit everyone by accelerating the spillover of scientific and medical knowledge about how cancers start, grow, and spread across all populations.
HIA proudly supports these efforts to bring lifesaving innovation from the lab to the patient.
