Washington, DC – Health IT Now (HITN) is pleased to announce Robert Horne as Executive Director, effective immediately. Robert replaces Joel White, who has served as Executive Director since 2007 and will remain involved with HITN as a senior advisor. Robert has served as Senior Vice President of HITN since November 2015 and prior to that was professional staff for the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Health, where he worked to enact the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act. The law makes fundamental changes to how health care providers are paid by Medicare, including through Meaningful Use.
“HITN will continue to aggressively push for policies that foster the integration of technology into healthcare in ways that lower costs and improve patient outcomes,” said Joel White. “We have an ambitious agenda for 2016 and beyond, including our continued push to clarify the statutory and regulatory treatment of health IT products and to reform federal data and interoperability policy to unleash the creative potential of the healthcare system. Given his experience and success in crafting health IT legislation, Medicare reform legislation, and the 21st Century Cures Act, Robert is well-positioned to work with our membership and policymakers to ensure these goals become reality. I am excited to continue to be a part of this unique and effective organization, and I look forward to Robert’s fresh perspectives and leadership.”
“HITN has brought to the forefront policy solutions that promote a more effective healthcare system,” said Robert Horne. “It is this track record that we will build upon as we tackle the emerging issues of expanded use of data in healthcare, including telehealth reimbursement policies and improving the regulatory environment within federal agencies to promote expanded access to, and use of, technology and data products.”
