WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Health IT Now Coalition (HITN) issued the following statement in response to the ONC report to Congress on the Challenges and Barriers to Interoperability:
“Health IT Now agrees with ONC’s statement that a lack of widespread interoperability will greatly hinder coordinated patient care. Despite recent claims to the contrary, we also agree that information blocking is a crucial and real issue that is harming providers and patients, and commend ONC for calling for actions to end information blocking.
Furthermore, we urge ONC to focus on coordinating with CMS on implementing requirements included in the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015. HITN’s MACRA recommendations can be found here.
It is time for meaningful action to achieve interoperability, and we look forward to partnering with ONC to once and for all reach this goal.”
